The Koans of the day
“The Koans of the day” is a poetry collection which includes original sketches by acclaimed Greek painter Yannis Tzermias.
I’M COMING TO THE LORD
For fifteen long years Simon lived atop a pillar in the middle of nowhere,
Drinking rainwater and eating seeds left for him by the birds,
And yet, better he did not become – only dirtier, bonier and sicker
Until he died and fell from the pillar to the ground.

TWIN TOWERS I
Handkerchiefs flown from the windows by the dead-to-be
And those who chose to fall headfirst into empty space
Little like Hollywood, like a soap, or the super-spectacle of an invisible Godzilla:
And behold Satan! Who removes his horns and bows in awe before the fanatic man.

(two poems from the collection; Greece: Kedros 2006)
